A 14 year old student killed at least seven people, including his grandparents and five school staff members, before taking his own life on Friday. The attack occurred at the Debsirin Nonthaburi School in Nonthaburi Province, located on the northwestern outskirts of Bangkok. According to police, the teenager first shot his grandparents dead at his home before proceeding to the school, where he fired at least 26 rounds. The weapon used was a registered handgun belonging to the shooter's grandfather. Authorities reported that the gunman was found with 34 additional rounds of ammunition and died after receiving first aid at the scene.

Casualty figures varied across reports. Some sources stated seven people died in total, including the shooter, while others cited a death toll of eight. Reports on the injured ranged from 15 to over 30 people, with several listed in critical condition. Education Minister Prasert Jantararuangtong confirmed that both teachers and students were among the casualties. Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul described the attack as well prepared with clear goals and suggested the boy may have been stressed about his studies.

This incident marks the second school shooting in Thailand this year, following an attack in February that left a teacher dead. Thailand has one of the highest rates of civilian gun ownership in Southeast Asia. In response to the tragedy, Prime Minister Anutin vowed to introduce a new firearms control law to restrict the carrying of guns by the public, proposing that only government officials on duty be allowed to carry them.

Investigations into the motive are ongoing. Some reports mentioned that the shooter may have been bullied by classmates or had studied previous mass shootings on his computer. The school, which has an enrollment of approximately 3,100 students, is considered one of the top secondary schools in the country.
