Police in Bengaluru have arrested a woman, her mother, and another man for the murder of the woman's bedridden husband. Mubarak Basha, 40, died on September 9 at his home in Yellappa Garden. He had been partially paralyzed and bedridden for approximately two years following a stroke. The suspects are identified as the victim's wife, Shaheena Banu, her mother, Haseena Janu, and Naheem Uddin Qureshi.
The suspects initially claimed that Basha had died of a heart attack. However, the victim's brother became suspicious after noticing marks on the body and contacted the police. A postmortem examination revealed that Basha died of suffocation and had sustained injuries to his face, cheeks, and private parts.
According to police, Banu and Qureshi developed a romantic relationship after Qureshi began helping the family with the health problems of Banu's daughter. Investigators state that Banu and Qureshi decided to kill Basha, and Banu shared the plan with her mother. The three accused allegedly attacked Basha in his sleep, smothering him and beating him when he fought back. The three suspects have been remanded to judicial custody.
