Three people died Thursday morning after a small Cessna aircraft crashed and caught fire in a rural area of Água Boa, Mato Grosso. The Fire Department responded to the scene at approximately 8:50 a.m. and used 4,000 liters of water to extinguish the blaze, which nearly consumed the twin engine plane. Local authorities and the Politec forensic team were dispatched to the site, and Cenipa has been called to assist with the investigation. The victims have not yet been identified.
According to the Civil Police, the aircraft had no registered flight plan and is not registered with the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac). Investigators believe the plane departed from an airfield in Goiânia, Goiás, though its intended destination remains unknown. The aircraft, identified by prefix N401NA, has a history of legal issues. It was seized by the Federal Police in 2017 after cocaine was found on board, leading to the arrest of two Spanish twins. The plane was later put up for electronic auction in December 2023 as part of a drug trafficking investigation.
