Traffic Restrictions Announced in Pune and Aluva for Krishna Birth Celebrations

Traffic restrictions and road closures have been announced in Pune and Aluva to accommodate celebrations for the birth of Lord Krishna on September 4 and 5. In Pune, the police have implemented diversions across several divisions, including Faraskhana, Warje, Band Garden, Wanowrie, and Lashkar, to manage crowds for Janmashtami and Dahi Handi. Key closures in Pune include roads around Shivaji Road, Laxmi Road, Bajirao Road, and Tilak Road, with some restrictions beginning at 4 pm on Friday and others starting Saturday morning. The Dahi Handi festival involves forming human pyramids to break clay pots filled with sweets and curd, a tradition that typically draws large crowds.

In Aluva, traffic will be regulated starting at 3:30 pm on Friday, September 4, 2026, for Sri Krishna Jayanthi. Vehicles will be prohibited from traveling from Pump Junction toward Bank Junction and from the Government Hospital side toward the railway station. Authorities have directed vehicles transporting procession participants to drop off passengers and park at Manappuram. Diversions for Aluva motorists include routes through Powerhouse Junction and the Pulinchodu Junction flyover.
