Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.
Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.

Two 25 year old men from the north east of England died after collapsing during the Great North Run on Sunday. The event organizers, The Great Run Company, stated that both participants suffered medical emergencies on the half marathon route from Newcastle to South Shields and passed away despite the efforts of the medical team. A spokesperson for the company said that the causes of death will be determined in due course and that they are supporting the families of the deceased.
The 45th anniversary of the event saw 63,000 runners participate in the 13.1 mile course. Among the participants was Prime Minister Andy Burnham. The race, founded by Sir Brendan Foster in 1981, has grown into the world's largest half marathon and generates an estimated 25 million pounds for charitable causes annually.
