Two men in their 40s died after a three vehicle collision on the Kanetsu Expressway in Niigata Prefecture. The accident occurred around 11:30 p.m. on September 14 in Minamiuonuma City. According to prefectural police, a large truck crashed into another large truck that had stopped due to a malfunction, and a passenger car subsequently collided with them. The two men in the passenger car were confirmed dead at a hospital. A man in his 60s driving the crashing truck suffered serious fractures, while the driver of the stopped truck sustained minor injuries. The inbound line between the Uonuma and Muikamachi interchanges was closed for over six hours. Police are currently investigating the cause of the accident.
