Cirlady Gomez, a social leader and member of the Jamundí Older Adult Committee, was murdered in her home in the rural area of Chontaduro on Sunday, August 20. An armed individual entered the residence and shot Gomez multiple times in front of her son, who was not injured. Police and Sijín officers later recovered her body, which had three gunshot wounds. This killing occurred shortly after the death of Jefferson Maquerry Mamian Santacruz, the son of Marleny Mamian, a member of the Municipal Victims Table. Santacruz was taken from his home and found dead on Friday, August 28. The municipal mayor's office rejected the crime, and the United Nations called for authorities to ensure justice and strengthen protection measures for community leaders. A center right source notes that the Jaime Martinez front of the Farc dissidents has a strong presence in this part of the Valle del Cauca.
