The U.S. government has authorized a potential sale of AIM-9X air-to-air missiles and related equipment to South Korea. The State Department announced the decision on Friday, stating that the proposed government-to-government Foreign Military Sale is estimated to cost 125 million U.S. dollars. The sale requires congressional notification and review.

South Korea has requested 103 AIM-9X Sidewinder Block II tactical missiles, 10 guidance units, and other non-major defense items including spare parts and training devices. RTX Corporation, based in Arlington, Virginia, will serve as the principal contractor.
