Ukrainian Drones Strike Oil Refinery and E-commerce Warehouse in Saratov

Ukrainian drones targeted infrastructure in the Russian city of Saratov overnight on September 11. Reports indicate that a Rosneft owned oil refinery and a warehouse belonging to Ozon, Russia's second largest e-commerce marketplace, were both struck. Ozon confirmed via Telegram that a drone attack caused a fire at its warehouse facility, though the company stated that no people were affected. Independent Russian outlet ASTRA used OSINT analysis to identify a fire at the refinery, which has an annual processing capacity of roughly 4.8 million metric tons of crude oil. Saratov is located approximately 460 kilometers east of the Ukrainian border. Additional explosions were reported in the port city of Kaspiysk in the Dagestan Republic, though the outcome of that event was not immediately known. Ukraine has previously targeted Ozon and Wildberries, Russia's largest e-commerce company, as part of a campaign against economic infrastructure. These strikes on energy facilities have contributed to a decline in Russian refinery throughput, which fell to about 3.8 million barrels per day in August from around 5 million barrels per day the previous year.
