- A hatched block means the outlet is affiliated with, or controlled by, a state.
Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.
Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.

The United States imposed 50 percent tariffs on approximately 20 billion dollars worth of Canadian goods on Saturday after trade negotiations between Washington and Ottawa collapsed. The tariffs affect a wide range of products, including cement, furniture, dairy products, clothing, and hockey equipment. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced that Canada will retaliate by matching the US tariffs dollar for dollar to protect Canadian workers and businesses. He also directed Canadian negotiators to return to Ottawa and suspended further trade discussions.
The collapse followed a series of intensive talks led by US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer and Canadian Trade Minister Dominic LeBlanc. President Donald Trump had previously paused the tariffs for three days, stating on social media that a deal had been reached. Proposed terms reportedly included US tariff reductions on steel, aluminum, and automobiles in exchange for Canada dropping retaliatory measures and granting more US access to dairy and lumber markets. Some reports indicate the deal would have specifically reduced steel tariffs from 50 to 25 percent and auto tariffs from 25 to 15 percent.
Both governments blamed the other for the failure. Jamieson Greer stated that Canada declined to finalize the deal and introduced new demands that upended the balance. Conversely, Prime Minister Carney stated that last minute changes to the US terms were unfair and uneconomic. US officials pointed to Canada's removal of American alcohol from stores as a point of contention, alleging discriminatory treatment of US products.
Economic experts and business leaders have warned that the tariffs threaten integrated North American supply chains. The auto industry is expected to be particularly affected. While some analysts suggest the tariffs represent only about 5 percent of Canada's exports to the US and may not cripple the economy, others describe the move as a body blow to North American competitiveness. The dispute further complicates the upcoming review of the US Mexico Canada Agreement.
