The United States and Iran have engaged in a significant escalation of military hostilities across the Middle East, marked by American bombardments of Iranian targets and Iranian retaliatory strikes on US bases in multiple countries. The conflict intensified after US strikes on Tuesday hit several locations in southern Iran, including a home hosting a wedding party in Sirik county. Iranian officials report that at least four people, including a child, were killed and dozens were wounded in the wedding attack. Total Iranian casualties from the US strikes are reported between 11 and 18 people, including members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Basij paramilitary forces. The US military stated that it targets military assets and never targets civilians.

In response, Iran launched a wave of missiles and drones targeting US military installations in Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, and Iraq. In Jordan, the military reported intercepting ten missiles, while others landed in remote areas. In Kuwait, a drone strike caused a fire at a residential complex, though no casualties were reported. Parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf referred to the United States as Satan, while other officials described the wedding strike as a war crime. Mohsen Rezai, secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, warned that Iran would implement a new military, diplomatic, and economic strategy to confront Washington. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump described the American strikes as justified and claimed the US maintains near total control of the Strait of Hormuz.
