- A hatched block means the outlet is affiliated with, or controlled by, a state.
Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.
Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.
The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.
The United States military destroyed five Iranian oil tankers on Tuesday, prompting Iran to launch ballistic missiles at a US base in Jordan and attack several ships in the Persian Gulf. US Central Command stated the strikes on the tankers, which included the M/T Riesco, M/T Kaviz, M/T Charminar, M/T Horizon 1, and M/T Derya, were a response to two Iranian attempts to hit a US Navy warship with ballistic missiles over the previous two days. The US military reported that the warship successfully evaded the attacks and no Americans were harmed. US officials described the tankers as part of a shadow network used to fund the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
