Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.

Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.

The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced that the US Treasury Department will at least double its purchases of long term government debt, increasing buybacks from $2 billion to at least $4 billion per operation for securities with maturities between 10 and 30 years. The move followed a surge in the yield of 30 year Treasury bonds, which reached its highest level since 2007 by climbing above 5.3 percent. While the intervention caused a brief dip in yields on Wednesday, the 30 year yield rose again to 5.24 percent on Thursday, reversing most of those gains.

How each side framed it

Left
Left leaning coverage emphasized the administration's failure to meet its own deficit reduction goals and highlighted the impact of specific policy choices on the national debt.
Centre
Center outlets focused on the market mechanics and the consensus among analysts that the buybacks are a temporary fix for deeper fiscal issues.
