The 83rd Venice International Film Festival is concluding with its awards ceremony in the Sala Grande. The event will determine the winner of the Golden Lion for best film, an award that is considered one of the industry's most prestigious and often boosts a film's chances during the Hollywood awards season. The jury is led this year by American actress and director Maggie Gyllenhaal.

Outside of the main competition, the festival will feature the closing film Dio Ride by Giovanni Veronesi. The film stars Pierfrancesco Favino as a cappuccino monk in Tuscany who faces accusations of heresy from religious authorities for preaching about a God who can laugh. The festival will also screen winners of other categories, including best direction, best first work, and the Armani Beauty audience award.
