WHO Director General Condemns Destruction of Medical Warehouse in Dnipro

A World Health Organization (WHO) warehouse in the Ukrainian city of Dnipro was destroyed during a Russian attack on August 7. WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus confirmed the incident on August 9, stating that the facility contained humanitarian medical supplies intended for front line health centers. WHO staff managed to evacuate 130 of approximately 300 pallets of aid before the strike occurred. No casualties were reported at the site.

Ghebreyesus condemned the attack on social media, stating that attacks on health care must stop and noting that even wars have rules, one of which is that health must be protected. Ukraine's Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets described the strike as a cynical attempt to deprive vulnerable people of life saving medicines. President Volodymyr Zelensky also reported that Russian forces have targeted essential civilian infrastructure across various regions, including Kiev, Dnipro, Mykolaiv, and Donetsk.
