Yair Golan Threatens Sara Netanyahu With Lawsuit Over October 7 Comments

Yair Golan, leader of the Democrats party, has threatened to sue Sara Netanyahu for 2.5 million NIS, approximately 825,000 USD, following comments she made regarding the October 7 attacks. Golan sent a warning letter demanding a public apology within 24 hours and a donation to survivors of the Supernova music festival. The legal action follows a Channel 14 interview in which Sara Netanyahu suggested that Golan, a high ranking military officer at the time, may have had prior knowledge of the Hamas onslaught because he was dressed and prepared early that morning. Golan, who rescued people from the Nova festival on October 7, described the claims as a conspiracy theory and an attempt to rewrite history to erase Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's responsibility for the security failure. The Likud party responded by stating that Sara Netanyahu never claimed there was a conspiracy and accused the media of manipulating public consciousness. Prime Minister Netanyahu later posted on Instagram that there was a failure on October 7, but no betrayal. Other opposition leaders, including Gadi Eisenkot, condemned the remarks as an attempt to incite hatred and divide the public.
