- A hatched block means the outlet is affiliated with, or controlled by, a state.
Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.
Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.
The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.
Youth protests against alleged irregularities in government recruitment examinations have expanded from Delhi to the eastern state of Jharkhand. In Ranchi, protesters have gathered at the Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium since July 25, demanding the cancellation of the 14th Jharkhand Public Service Commission Combined Preliminary Test held in April. Candidates allege that results were manipulated, citing leaked answer sheets on social media. The Jharkhand government has launched an investigation via the Criminal Investigation Department, and the chairman of the Jharkhand Public Service Commission resigned on July 22. Protesters are calling for a wider probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Enforcement Directorate.
Violence has occurred during these demonstrations. Neha Bora, president of the All India Students Association and a prominent figure in the nationwide movement, was targeted with ink during a march in Ranchi. The attacker, who was detained by police, stated he targeted Bora because of her support for jailed activist Umar Khalid. Bora alleged that the attacker shouted religious slogans and that the assault was carried out by individuals linked to the RSS and BJP.
In response to the broader youth unrest, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat stated that the concerns of Gen Z are valid and that protest is a form of dialogue in a democracy. He remarked that young protesters should not be labeled anti national. These comments drew mixed reactions from political leaders. Members of the BJP praised the remarks as inspirational, while opposition leaders from the Congress and Samajwadi Party questioned the BJP's previous criticism of young protesters or suggested the RSS was being used to manage the situation.
