- A hatched block means the outlet is affiliated with, or controlled by, a state.
Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.
Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.
The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.
AI startup Manus announced on Tuesday that it will resume operating as an independent company as its acquisition deal with Meta unwinds. The separation follows an order from Beijing in April to unwind the deal, which was valued at over 2 billion US dollars, amid increased Chinese scrutiny of US investment in frontier technology startups. Manus is an AI agent platform launched in March 2025 that autonomously executes tasks for users, such as writing reports and browsing the internet.
As part of the transition and to comply with regulatory requirements in specific jurisdictions, Manus will delete data generated by certain users on or after December 29. Affected users will be notified via email and the app, and they have until August 23 to back up their data. Unaffected users may continue using the service without disruption. Reuters previously reported in July that Chinese company Tencent has been in talks to become the largest shareholder of Manus.
