- A hatched block means the outlet is affiliated with, or controlled by, a state.
Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.
Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.
The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.
Apple has introduced its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, marking the most significant design change to the iPhone in nearly two decades. The device features a passport like shape with a 5.4 inch outer display and a 7.6 inch inner display. It is powered by the new A20 Pro chip and utilizes a titanium frame. The iPhone Duo starts at 1,999 dollars for the 256 gigabyte model, with higher capacity versions reaching up to 3,199 dollars. The device replaces Face ID with Touch ID, integrated into the power button, and supports the Apple Pencil starting later this year. It is available in colors described as white and dark blue, with pre orders beginning October 16 and availability starting October 23.
Alongside the foldable model, Apple announced the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. These models feature the A20 Pro chip, which is manufactured using a 2 nanometer process. The iPhone 18 Pro has a 6.3 inch screen and starts at 1,199 dollars, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max has a 6.9 inch screen and starts at 1,299 dollars. A key camera upgrade for the Pro line is a variable aperture system on the main 48 megapixel sensor. Apple also introduced the Apple Reference Image standard to verify image authenticity, though this feature will not be available in the European Union or China.
The event was led by John Ternus, who recently took over as CEO from Tim Cook. Other product announcements included the Apple Watch Series 12, Apple Watch Ultra 4, and AirPods 5. Ternus emphasized that the iPhone is the ideal personal hub for artificial intelligence, noting that Apple Intelligence is designed to run on device to ensure privacy. However, Apple noted that these AI features will not initially be available in the European Union due to regulatory issues.
Industry analysts and reports highlight Apple's reliance on Korean suppliers for the Duo, specifically Samsung Display for the foldable panels. The device is certified IP68 for water and dust resistance and features a nano texture finish on the inner screen to reduce glare and the visibility of the crease.
