The majority of Banco do Brasil employees have accepted a final proposal from the institution to end a partial strike that began on Thursday. The agreement includes the payment of Profit Sharing (PLR) within 72 hours of signing and the pardon of the work stoppage that occurred on August 20. Other key terms include a financial recognition payment of 3,000 reais, an increase in paternity leave from 20 to 35 days, and an increase in aid for children with disabilities. For 71,500 employees in business and support units, an additional 3,000 reais payment is conditioned on fourth quarter 2026 results and is expected in February 2027. Regarding health insurance, Banco do Brasil will advance 360 million reais in employer contributions to the Cassi Associates Plan. Additionally, the reference salary for the relationship center will increase from 4,795.12 reais to 6,302.77 reais starting in January 2027.

In contrast, employees at Caixa Econômica Federal remain on a national strike with branches closed and only ATMs operational. Caixa has presented a final proposal valid until Friday at 11 p.m. which includes a 3,000 reais premium per employee, PLR payment on September 18, and an increase in the Saúde Caixa funding ceiling from 6.5 percent to 8 percent. The bank has stated it will seek a collective agreement through the courts if the proposal is rejected. Meanwhile, postal workers at Correios have also begun an indefinite strike due to health insurance disputes.
