- A hatched block means the outlet is affiliated with, or controlled by, a state.
Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.
Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.
The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.
Joshua Cammidge, a 31 year old man from Swindon, appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court on Thursday charged with assisting a foreign intelligence service and preparing an act of sabotage. Prosecutors allege that Cammidge provided Google Maps screenshots and addresses of four drone manufacturing sites in Swindon to an individual linked to the GRU Volunteer Corps, a group controlled by Russia's military intelligence agency. The court heard that Cammidge volunteered to commit sabotage and conducted research into a wifi jamming device and reconnaissance of the sites.
Cammidge was arrested last week by Counter Terrorism Policing London and Wiltshire Police. While prosecutors detailed his alleged communications with a British national in Russia, they noted that Cammidge strenuously denied the charges during police interviews and claimed he had no intention of carrying out sabotage. He did not enter a plea during the hearing and was remanded in custody. The case has been sent to the Old Bailey for September 25.
Security Minister Dan Jarvis stated that the police took action against a potential threat and emphasized that attempts to sow fear or undermine support for Ukraine will not succeed. The incident occurs amid deteriorating relations between Britain and Russia, with officials warning of increased Russian espionage and hybrid warfare across Europe.
