CBI Registers FIR in Disha Salian Death Case Following Bombay High Court Order

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a first information report (FIR) to begin a probe into the 2020 death of Disha Salian, the former manager of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. The action follows a Bombay High Court order on September 2, which criticized the Mumbai Police for treating the case as an accidental death for six years and noted glaring discrepancies in the initial investigation. Salian died on June 8, 2020, after falling from the 12th floor of a residential building in Mumbai. Six days later, Rajput was found dead in his apartment, leading to speculation about a link between the two events.

The FIR was registered based on a statement from Salian's father, Satish Salian, who alleged that his daughter was gang raped and murdered as part of a deep rooted conspiracy involving powerful people. The CBI is investigating allegations of murder, gang rape, and an elaborate cover up. The FIR names several individuals, including former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, MLA Aaditya Thackeray, actors Rhea Chakraborty, Dino Morea, and Sooraj Pancholi, as well as former police officials Param Bir Singh and Sachin Vaze. However, the CBI noted that being named in the FIR does not mean these individuals are currently treated as accused, in accordance with the court's directive that no one be treated as a suspect without sufficient grounds.
