The death toll from record rainfall in Japan's Chiba Prefecture has risen to nine people, according to emergency management officials. One man remains missing. He disappeared after attempting to retrieve rescue equipment to help another individual who was trapped on the roof of a submerged car.
Among the deceased are a woman in her 70s found in a submerged vehicle in Kashiwa and a man in his 40s trapped in a flooded underpass in Chiba city. Additionally, the body of a man around 70 years old was recovered from an irrigation canal in Isumi on Saturday.
