A drone attack targeted the Zawiya oil complex west of Tripoli, causing a fire at a gasoline reservoir. The National Oil Corporation stated that fires at the fuel storage facility were brought under control quickly, although one tank containing approximately 4.5 million liters of gasoline collapsed. Additionally, officials from the electricity provider reported that two further drones targeted the Zawiya power plant early Tuesday morning, with one hitting the fire fighting system without causing damage. Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibah described the targeting of civilian infrastructure as an organized and dangerous act that would not go unanswered.
The attacks occurred amid ongoing instability in a country divided between Dbeibah's UN recognized government in the west and the Libyan National Army led by Khalifa Haftar in the east and south. In a separate incident on Monday night, the LNA reported that its head of military intelligence, Fawzi al-Mansouri, was killed in a car bombing in Benghazi. LNA officials have since arrested a suspected terrorist cell in Benghazi, though they have not confirmed a link to the killing.
