Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.
Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.

A fire at a nursing home in Pitrufquén, Chile, killed 16 elderly residents on Friday night. The blaze broke out around 10:08 p.m. local time at the Lar El Edén facility, located in the Araucanía region approximately 640 kilometers south of Santiago. Firefighters extinguished the flames early Saturday morning. Ten other residents survived and were taken to a hospital, where local authorities reported they were in good condition.
Chilean President Jose Antonio Kast expressed his condolences and ordered an urgent nationwide assessment of nursing home conditions to prevent similar tragedies. The Mayor of Pitrufquén, Jacqueline Romero, declared three days of official mourning and suspended public activities.
Investigators from the Public Ministry, including prosecutor Jorge Granada Riquelme, are working to determine the cause of the fire and verify if the establishment held the necessary operating licenses. Regional health officials and Mayor Romero stated that the facility had a history of regulatory issues. According to reports, the home had been subject to fines and enforcement proceedings since 2019, and the municipality had specifically requested an inspection in February due to sanitary violations.
Outlets with a center-left lean emphasized the facility's history of regulatory failures and fines, framing the event as a systemic failure of oversight. In contrast, the center-leaning outlet focused more on the immediate emergency response and the official government actions taken by the president and local prosecutor.
