Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.

Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.

The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.

Every source for this story reports from Brazil.

Senator and presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro demanded a vote from Supreme Federal Court Justice Cármen Lúcia in favor of opening an investigation against Justice Alexandre de Moraes. During a social media broadcast on Sunday, Bolsonaro stated that Lúcia should be concerned with her biography. He also called for protests on September 7 against President Lula and Justice Moraes, suggesting that the size of the crowds would influence the outcome of the legal proceedings. During the broadcast, Bolsonaro listened to supporters who defended the January 8, 2023, attacks and claimed those convicted were victims of injustice.

The Supreme Court is currently evaluating two conflicting issues. The court is reviewing whether Justice André Mendonça acted arbitrarily in investigations involving the INSS and Banco Master, which led to a Federal Police report naming Moraes as an interlocutor for former banker Daniel Vorcaro. Simultaneously, the court is assessing the legality of Moraes using a fake news inquiry to investigate Mendonça for abuse of authority and crimes of responsibility. Justice Lúcia is viewed as a decisive vote in these deliberations. Reports indicate she has expressed perplexity regarding the internal erosion of the court and has not yet committed her support to either Moraes or Mendonça.
