Alexander K. a 38 year old man previously convicted of murder, is appearing before the Düsseldorf Regional Court on charges of dangerous bodily harm and kidnapping of his ex girlfriend. K. is known as the Maschsee murderer. In 2013, he was sentenced to 12 years in prison for the 2012 murder of a 44 year old prostitute in Hannover. During that crime, he killed and dismembered the victim before throwing her body parts into the Maschsee lake. After serving his sentence and being released last year, K. became an internet influencer on platforms like TikTok, where he spoke about his past and built a following. He describes his fans as a community, while one report notes a specific chat group called The True Believers. The trial in Düsseldorf is scheduled to continue on Thursday.
