Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced on Friday that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have captured the Ali al-Taher ridge in southern Lebanon. According to Katz, the operation targeted a complex of Hezbollah tunnels used for command and control, as well as for launching attacks against Israeli forces and territory. Katz stated that the mission was completed and the tunnels were cleared of terrorists, while the IDF noted that some fighters were eliminated and others fled.
A Lebanese military officer reported that Israeli troops seized the southern entrances to the complex and are monitoring northern entrances via drones. The officer added that it remained unclear how far troops had penetrated the complex or if booby traps remained. Hezbollah did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
