Libya's National Oil Corporation (NOC) has warned it may declare force majeure and completely halt operations at the Zawiya refinery if drone attacks on oil assets continue. The refinery, which is the country's largest operational facility with a capacity of 120,000 barrels per day, was targeted by a series of drone attacks between Sunday and Monday. One attack struck a fuel tank belonging to the Brega Petroleum Marketing Company containing approximately 4.5 million litres of gasoline, causing the tank to catch fire and eventually collapse. Other targets included an oil blending and filling plant, a pipeline network, and a desalination plant. While some reports indicate that operations continued without suspension on Monday, the NOC declared a state of extreme emergency and called for an immediate investigation. No casualties or material damage were reported in the latest attack, although a separate incident on Saturday caused a leak in an untreated naphtha tank. No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks, and authorities have not identified the perpetrators.
