Marine Le Pen Promises National Priority for Social Housing in 2027 Campaign Launch

Marine Le Pen, the National Rally (RN) candidate for the 2027 French presidential election, announced that housing will be a primary focus of her five year term during a political return speech in Hénin Beaumont. Le Pen promised to establish national priority for the allocation of social housing, stating that French citizens should have priority in their own country regardless of religion or skin color. She noted that while 70 percent of French people are potential candidates for such housing, only 11 percent currently benefit from it. To implement this policy, which may face constitutional challenges, she may seek a referendum to revise the Constitution.

The event also served as a demonstration of party unity amid reported tensions between Le Pen and her number two, Jordan Bardella. At the conclusion of the rally, Le Pen called Bardella to the stage to greet supporters. While a center right source highlighted her strong position in current polls and the fragmentation of her opponents, a center left source described the campaign as being disrupted by controversies and internal friction.

Separately, Eric Zemmour and Sarah Knafo of the Reconquête party appeared together at an event in the Yvelines. Zemmour confirmed he will run again in 2027 and focused his speech on the potential of artificial intelligence and robotics to replace foreign workers in sectors such as construction and delivery. He also advocated for the remigration of foreigners who are unemployed or criminal.
