Military Police Officer Arrested After Wife Found Dead in São Paulo

A 26 year old military police officer, Vinicius Costa Silva, was placed under temporary arrest on Monday after his wife, 29 year old Larissa da Cruz Morata, was found dead from a gunshot wound to the head in Embu das Artes. The arrest followed a forensic analysis of the shot trajectory that raised doubts about the officer's claim that his wife committed suicide. According to investigators, the bullet entered the back of the head above the left ear and traveled from left to right; because the victim was right handed, police believe it is unlikely she fired the shot herself.
