MK Stalin Accuses CM Vijay of Using Social Media to Mask Administrative Failures

DMK president MK Stalin has criticized Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, accusing the actor turned politician of using social media reels and publicity to conceal an inefficient administration. In a video posted to X, Stalin claimed that Vijay has turned the state Assembly into a place for photoshoots and is running the government like a cinema shooting to cheat a whole generation. These remarks follow a controversy in the Assembly where Vijay made a hand gesture near his jaw while discussing the Emergency era Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA). While Vijay later clarified the gesture was not intentional, it was widely interpreted as a reference to a jaw injury Stalin suffered during his 1976 detention. Stalin recounted his imprisonment under MISA, stating that he and other leaders were subjected to custodial violence and that the death of DMK leader Chitti Babu occurred during that period. Stalin further alleged that the current administration is failing on law and order, citing daily murders and sexual assaults, and accused Vijay of reneging on promises regarding crop loan waivers and LPG cylinders. He also defended the DMK against corruption allegations mentioned by Vijay in the Assembly, arguing that Enforcement Directorate cases are often used to settle political scores.
