North Korea condemned Japan's plan to establish a record high defense budget for the next fiscal year on Saturday, characterizing the move as preparation for a war of aggression. The North Korean Central News Agency quoted a commentary from the Rodong Sinmun stating that the expansion of the war budget is a dangerous move that brings new turmoil to the region and the world.
The condemnation follows a budget request from Japan's defense ministry on Wednesday of 8.9 trillion yen, which is approximately 60 billion US dollars. Reports indicate the final budget could rise to around 10 trillion yen when finalized at the end of the year. North Korea claimed that the international community will not tolerate the military buildup of the descendants of a war criminal state and threatened to counterattack thoroughly with united strength.
