Poland Attributes Drone Factory Fire to Russian Sabotage

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated on Wednesday that a fire at a drone factory in Skarżysko-Kamienna was undoubtedly deliberate arson and an act of sabotage. Tusk suggested the attack was carried out on behalf of Russia as part of a broader effort to escalate tensions and destabilize the region. The facility belongs to WB Electronics, which is the largest producer of drones in the European Union and a supplier for the armed forces of Poland and Ukraine.

Polish prosecutors and security services are investigating the incident as a potential crime of a terrorist nature involving foreign intelligence. According to a deputy interior minister, surveillance footage recorded a masked person entering the plant. No injuries were reported in the blaze.

The incident follows a fire on Sunday at a production facility in Lublin belonging to JFG Composites, a company that produces aerospace components for military helicopters. Tusk noted that while evidence of arson is not as clear in the Lublin case, it cannot be ruled out. These events coincided with the discovery of improvised explosive devices at a power plant in Germany near the Polish border.

Poland has previously identified itself as a primary focus of Russian sabotage campaigns in Europe. The government in Warsaw has accused Russian and Belarusian intelligence services of deploying agents to carry out such acts within the country.
