Poland has summoned the Russian ambassador following the impact of a Russian Kh-101 cruise missile in the Lublin region. The missile fell approximately 90 kilometers from the Ukrainian border during a mass Russian attack on Ukraine. No injuries were reported. Polish authorities stated that the missile was manufactured in the second quarter of this year at a factory near Moscow. Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz noted that this indicates Russia is using missiles produced in real time because its war reserves have been exhausted.
In a separate incident, the Polish Air Force intercepted a Russian Il-20 reconnaissance aircraft over the Baltic Sea. Two F-16 fighter jets approached the aircraft, which was flying in international airspace without a flight plan and with its transponder deactivated. The Defense Minister confirmed that the Russian plane did not violate Polish airspace. This event follows a reported increase in Russian reconnaissance flights near the NATO member state. Polish prosecutors are currently investigating the violation of airspace related to the missile impact.
