Police Target PCC Linked Network in R$ 1 Billion Money Laundering Operation

The Civil Police of São Paulo launched Operation Helmintos on Thursday to dismantle a criminal network linked to the Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC) suspected of laundering approximately R$ 1 billion. The investigation focuses on a scheme involving the purchase of high end real estate, companies, and the control of kiosks in Praia Grande, located in the Baixada Santista region. Authorities issued temporary arrest warrants for four primary suspects: Anderson Roberto Braghine, known as Fio; Alexander Miguel da Silva, known as Gordão; Leonildo Marinho de Andrade, known as Nenê; and Ronaldo Yuzo Sekiya, known as Japonês. Police reports indicate that Fio and Nenê were detained during the operation.

According to investigators, the group sought to expand the PCC's influence over the municipal Executive and Legislative branches through the financing of elected officials and the manipulation of public bidding processes. The operation also identified six other individuals, including five women, who allegedly assisted the organization. One suspect, the wife of a group leader, reportedly moved R$ 51.2 million despite declaring a monthly income of R$ 3,300. The judiciary authorized the seizure of 29 properties and the blocking of accounts and investments.

Search and arrest warrants were executed in Praia Grande, Guarujá, Santo André, and Santana de Parnaíba. The Praia Grande City Hall stated that it is available to provide information to authorities but clarified that no warrants were served inside public administration buildings. The police named the operation Helmintos to reference the parasitic nature of the group's impact on the local economy and free competition.
