President Abelardo de la Espriella Appoints New Representatives to Public University Councils

President Abelardo de la Espriella has issued a decree designating several representatives to the Superior University Councils (CSU) of Colombia's public universities. Among the most prominent appointments is Father Rodolfo Londoño de la Espriella, a priest and first cousin of the president, who has been named as a presidential delegate for five public institutions: the National University, the Pedagogical University, the University of Antioquia, the University of the Valley, and the University of Atlántico. At the National University, the country's largest public institution, the president is entitled to two delegates. Other appointments include María Rocío Cortés, the current Superintendent of Industry and Commerce, to the University of Cundinamarca, and Wilson Caballero, a lawyer formerly associated with the president's law firm, to the Industrial University of Santander. The CSU serves as the highest decision making body for public universities, influencing critical matters such as the election of rectors.
