Range Rover Launches First All Electric SUV

Range Rover has launched its first all electric vehicle, a luxury SUV that can reach 60mph in 4.3 seconds. The vehicle is built on a dedicated platform featuring twin permanent magnet electric motors and a 118.5kWh lithium ion battery pack. It offers a projected real world driving range of up to 535km and supports rapid charging that can replenish the battery from 10 percent to 80 percent in approximately 22 minutes using a 350kW DC charger. The SUV includes an Intelligent Driveline Dynamics system for traction management and full compatibility with the Range Rover app for remote cabin and battery control.

Production takes place in Solihull, UK, with support from a propulsion manufacturing centre in Wolverhampton. The company reported that 10,500 staff received extra training for the project and the car underwent extensive testing. The vehicle is available in short and long wheelbase designs across several specifications, including HSE, Autobiography, and SV variants.

Pricing varies by region. In the UK, the starting price is £154,070. In South Africa, prices range from R3,916,800 for the SWB EV550 HSE to R6,035,000 for the LWB EV550 SV Ultra.
