Republican Lawmakers Call for Removal of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth Amid Pentagon Turmoil

United States Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth is facing mounting pressure from within his own party following the resignation of Army Secretary Dan Driscoll. An inspector general's report indicated that Hegseth used the unclassified messaging app Signal to discuss sensitive military information, including the timing of aircraft launches and strikes in Yemen, which may have put service members in harm's way. Furthermore, Republican lawmakers have raised concerns regarding the exclusion of Democrats from classified briefings and the handling of boat strikes against alleged drug traffickers.
