Russian Air Strikes Hit Multiple Ukrainian Regions and Industrial Plants

Russian forces launched a mass missile and drone attack across Ukraine on September 12, killing at least 11 people and injuring 96 others. The strikes targeted 10 Ukrainian regions, with significant impacts reported in Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, and Dnipropetrovsk. In Odesa, a multi story residential building was damaged, resulting in dozens of injuries. Russian forces also targeted critical industrial infrastructure, including the Zaporizhstal steel plant in Zaporizhzhia and the ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih plant in Dnipropetrovsk. Operators of these plants stated that the facilities are civilian enterprises and do not produce military products. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that Russia deployed 129 drones and 20 missiles of various types, including Kalibr and Iskander M, while Ukrainian forces shot down 110 targets. Railway infrastructure in Lutsk and Fastiv was also targeted, though no passengers were injured. The Russian Ministry of Defense framed the strikes as targeting port infrastructure used for military supplies. Simultaneously, Ukraine launched drone attacks against Russian industrial facilities in the Samara and Rostov regions, including Taganrog and Togliatti. Russian officials reported that these attacks caused fires and damaged residential buildings. In separate developments, Bulgarian authorities are investigating an explosion at a munitions warehouse operated by EMCO, a company that supplies weapons to Ukraine. German investigators also suspect a member of Russian military intelligence of coordinating a drone attack attempt at Leipzig airport in August.
