Tate Brothers Face New Trafficking and Sexual Abuse Charges in Romania

Romanian prosecutors have formally charged Andrew and Tristan Tate with crimes including human trafficking, money laundering, and the sexual abuse of minors. The charges, filed by the Directorate for Investigating Crime and Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT), follow a previous indictment that was rejected by a Bucharest court due to procedural errors. The brothers, who hold dual American and British citizenship, are currently held in a Miami jail while fighting extradition to the United Kingdom on separate charges related to the sexual exploitation of women.

According to investigators, the new charges center on the exploitation of a girl who was 15 years old when she was recruited. Prosecutors allege that Andrew Tate used deception, surveillance, physical aggression, and emotional blackmail to coerce the victim into producing pornographic material and appearing in sex video chats. The abuse reportedly occurred over nine years across England and Romania. Authorities claim the brothers earned approximately 1.2 million US dollars from this exploitation and have requested the confiscation of four luxury cars believed to be purchased with laundered funds. Additionally, the prosecution alleges that the brothers attempted to influence witnesses by offering money and legal assistance.

Andrew Tate, a 39 year old former kickboxer, is charged with trafficking minors, money laundering, and sex with a minor. Tristan Tate is charged with complicity in trafficking and money laundering. Both brothers deny all allegations. Their lawyer, Eugen Vidineac, stated that the defense will challenge any procedural or evidential deficiencies, noting that the current indictment is a second attempt by the prosecution to bring the case to trial.
