TRE-MG Subpoenas Meta and X Over Fake Police Report Shared by Nikolas Ferreira

The Regional Electoral Court of Minas Gerais (TRE-MG) has ordered Meta and X to provide and preserve data from profiles involved in the circulation of a forged document attributed to the Federal Police. The document, which claimed that no evidence of crime was found regarding conversations between Federal Deputy Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG) and banker Daniel Vorcaro of Banco Master, was shared by Ferreira on his official accounts on September 3. The court is investigating the origin of the material and whether a support profile, nikolasferreirateam, is managed by the deputy's team.

The legal action was initiated by Federal Deputy Rogério Correia (PT-MG), who accuses Ferreira of abuse of political power and misuse of social media. Correia noted that the forged page appeared in a 218 page report, but the actual page 156 of the original document is entirely different. The fake report surfaced after ICL Notícias published audio of Ferreira asking Vorcaro for help releasing a mineral asset. Correia is seeking the cancellation of Ferreira's candidacy registration or diploma, as well as an eight year period of ineligibility starting from the 2026 elections.

Judge Sálvio Chaves ordered the platforms to provide registration data for users and administrators, including names, identification, and access logs. The court is also considering requests to block further dissemination of the document and to determine if artificial intelligence was used to create the image. Nikolas Ferreira's press team stated that the deputy is calm and convinced he committed no illegality, while describing the action by Rogério Correia as an attempt to use judicial disputes for political promotion.
