Ukraine Strikes Russian Industrial Sites as Russia Hits Odessa

Ukraine launched a series of drone attacks targeting industrial facilities across three Russian regions: Perm, Samara, and Rostov. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that the strikes hit two chemical plants and a drone production facility in Taganrog. One specific target was the KuibyshevAzot petrochemical plant in Togliatti, which the Ukrainian military claims produces synthetic rubber used for tactical and ballistic missile fuel. Russian officials reported that 230 drones were intercepted, though reports indicate that residential buildings in Togliatti were damaged and four buildings in Taganrog caught fire. Russian sources also mentioned a hit on a car factory.

Simultaneously, Russian forces launched missile and drone strikes against Ukraine. In Odessa, a 25 story residential building was damaged, resulting in 28 injuries, including an infant. Ukrainian officials stated that port infrastructure in the Odessa region was also targeted. Additional Russian strikes hit an industrial facility in Kryvyi Rih and a residential neighborhood in Zaporizhzhia, leaving three people dead.

While both reports focus on the strategic nature of the industrial targets, the center lean outlet emphasizes the human cost of the Russian strikes in Odessa and Zaporizhzhia.
