At least eight people have died and up to 18 remain missing after the passenger ferry Filo Jet capsized and sank off the coast of Northern Cyprus on Sunday. The high speed catamaran was carrying 267 people, consisting of 259 passengers and eight crew members, when it began taking on water shortly after departing the port of Kyrenia for Mersin, Turkey. The vessel eventually sank to a depth of approximately 514 meters.
