  • A hatched block means the outlet is affiliated with, or controlled by, a state.

Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.

Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.

The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.

Lu Lei, deputy governor of the People's Bank of China, announced on Thursday that the internationalization of the yuan is a continuous process and an irreversible trend. The central bank plans to expand the currency's global use by maintaining broad and stable liquidity in offshore markets and making the issuance of sovereign bonds and central bank bills a regular practice. Lu stated that the bank will improve the environment for foreign entities to hold and use the yuan, while actively promoting the use of the digital yuan in cross border transactions.

To support this growth, authorities intend to optimize market access schemes such as Stock Connect, Bond Connect, and Swap Connect. The strategy includes reinforcing Hong Kong as the premier offshore yuan hub and supporting development in London, Singapore, and Dubai. Additionally, Shanghai will be enhanced as a global hub for asset allocation and risk management. Lu noted that foreign entities currently hold over 11 trillion yuan in domestic financial assets and emphasized that China does not intend to seek trade advantages through currency devaluation.

While both reports cover the same policy announcements, they differ in framing. The center leaning source focuses on the technical aspects of liquidity and the stability of the currency. The center right leaning source frames the move within a broader trend of de dollarisation and the goal of building a financial powerhouse.
