The Regional Electoral Court of Minas Gerais (TRE-MG) has ordered ICL Notícias and Meta to remove six publications within 24 hours that claimed Federal Deputy Nikolas Ferreira called banker Daniel Vorcaro 'lindão' (handsome). Judge Jair Francisco dos Santos issued the preliminary injunction after reviewing the audio in question and concluding that Ferreira referred to Vorcaro as 'Dani' but never used the word 'lindão'.
ICL Notícias defended its reporting by stating that the term appeared in official transcriptions of the investigated audio. The outlet characterized the court order as disproportionate censorship and announced its intention to appeal. While the court ordered the removal of specific reports and social media posts, it declined to remove a video analysis by journalist Juliana Dal Piva and a video by journalist Xico Sá, citing the public interest in journalistic analysis.
Additionally, the court rejected Ferreira's claims that reports regarding his request for help with a mining asset were false or defamatory. The judge ruled that seeking mediation for a mining asset for a friend and lawyer does not violate electoral legislation and remains a matter for political discussion.
