PGR and STF Justices Clash Over Banco Master Investigation and Secret Documents

The Prosecutor General's Office (PGR) has asked Supreme Court President Edson Fachin to verify if Justice André Mendonça provided access to all inquiry documents regarding the Banco Master case. The PGR alleges that a March request from the Federal Police for supplementary financial intelligence reports from Coaf regarding banker Daniel Vorcaro remains unaccounted for in the available case records. The PGR notes that the Public Ministry was not consulted on the police representation and seeks confirmation on whether any judicial decisions were made regarding the material.

In response to inquiries from Justice Fachin, Justice Mendonça justified his conduct by stating he ordered the Federal Police to identify a suspected influence and monitoring network led by Vorcaro. Mendonça claimed that data from Vorcaro's phone suggested the banker had early access to confidential investigation details and sought to intervene with authorities. He further explained that he personally summoned police delegates to his office as a precaution because documents mentioned the Director General of the Federal Police and the Prosecutor General of the Republic.

The situation has escalated into a conflict within the Supreme Court. Justice Fachin ordered the disclosure of these documents following a request from Justice Alexandre Moraes, who considers the reports fundamental for a plenary session scheduled for Tuesday. This session will analyze a Federal Police report involving messages between Vorcaro and Justice Moraes. Additionally, Benjamin Botelho, described as the architect of Banco Master, has requested that the court delay proceedings until a challenge of suspicion against Justice Mendonça is resolved.
